Featured Case Study
VIVA Uses Shibboleth to Distribute Licensed Video to MembersThe Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA), a publicly supported consortium of libraries at over 70 public and private, nonprofit higher education institutions in Virginia, has licensed access to more than 500 hours of video content from the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). Under this arrangement, the University of Virginia is providing the hosting and streaming resources for the video content. Each of the participating VIVA institutions operates a Shibboleth Identity Provider. They authenticate their own users, leveraging their existing identity management systems, and use the Shibboleth Identity Provider software to provide authorization assertions to the streaming site.
